The protection of your personal data during the collection, processing and use of these during your visit to our website is important to us. Your data will be protected within the framework of the statutory provisions.

The information below tells you how we handle your personal data, how and for what purpose this data is used, to whom we pass this data and how we protect your personal data.

Comments

When visitors post comments on the site, we collect the data displayed in the comment form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and the user agent string (this identifies the browser) to help detect spam.

An anonymized string may be created from your email address (also called a hash) and passed to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The privacy policy of the Gravatar service can be found here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is publicly visible in the context of your comment.

Media

If you are a registered user and upload photos to this website, please do not upload photos with an EXIF GPS location. Visitors to this website could download photos stored on this website and extract their location information.

Cookies

When you write a comment on our website, this can be a consent to store your name, email address and website in cookies. This is a convenience feature so that if you want to write another comment, you do not have to enter all this data again. These cookies are stored for one year.

If you have an account and log in to this website, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie does not contain any personally identifiable information and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will set some cookies to store your login information and viewing options. Login cookies expire after two days and display options cookies expire after one year. If you select “Stay logged in” when you sign up, your login will be maintained for two weeks. When you log out of your account, the login cookies are deleted.

When you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is stored in your browser. This cookie does not contain any personal data and only refers to the post ID of the article you just edited. The cookie expires after one day.

Embedded content from other websites

Posts on this website may contain embedded content (for example, videos, images, posts, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if the visitor had visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking services, and record your interaction with this embedded content, including your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged into this website (for example, Facebook, YouTube, etc.).

With whom we share your data

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we store your data

When you post a comment, it is saved indefinitely, including metadata. This way, we can automatically detect and approve follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users who register on our site, we additionally store the personal information they provide in their user profiles. All users can view, change, or delete their personal information at any time (the username cannot be changed). Administrators of the website can also view and modify this information.

What rights you have to your data

According to Art. 15 of the GDPR, you have the right to obtain information about the processing of your personal data.

If you have an account on this website or have posted comments, you can request an export of your personal data from us, including any data you have provided to us. In addition, you can request the deletion of all personal data that we have stored about you. This does not include data that we are required to retain for administrative, legal or security needs.

SSL encryption

This site uses SSL encryption for security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as the inquiries you send to us. If SSL encryption is activated, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.

Hosting and emailing

The hosting services used by us serve to provide the following services: Infrastructure and platform services, computing capacity, storage space and database services, e-mail dispatch, security services and technical maintenance services, which we use for the purpose of operating this online offer.

Art. 28 DSGVO (conclusion of order processing contract).

Collection of access data and log files

The hosting provider collects on the basis of our legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f. The access data includes the name of the website accessed, file, date and time of access, amount of data transferred, notification of successful access, browser type and version, the user’s operating system, referrer URL (the previously visited page), IP address and the requesting provider.

Log file information is stored for security reasons (e.g. for the clarification of abuse or fraud) for a maximum of 7 days and then deleted. Data whose further storage is necessary for evidentiary purposes is excluded from deletion until the final clarification of the respective incident.

Statify

We use the web analytics service Statify. Statify does not store any personal data such as IP addresses – it only counts page views, not visitors. Statify stores the data only for a limited period of time (default: two weeks).
Due to this mode of operation, Statify complies with all requirements of the GDPR.
